I mentioned changes since the store was bought out by megacorp. Well here is what I mean. Originally and for many many years the chain was owned and run locally by a family as a family business. Prices were reasonable, service was great. The chain had standards that they required the sotre to meet. I know becauseI have been a customer all my life. My parents have always shopped at Giant. Almost exclusively. Then about 5-10 years ago the family sold the business to a mega corp from Britian or Ireland. They changed things. First all of a sudden sale items were never in stock anymore. It was almost guranteed no matter what location you went to, if it was on sale you would need a rain check. And the "bonus card." To even get a sale price you need your "bonus card." This of course is so that they can track your spending habits and personal data. Sounds more like "1984" then buying food for the family. And the prices of everything of course went up significantly. And things like food handling went down the toilet. I don't know how much rotten food I take back where people buy it and return it the same day. And I remember at least 3 times I have bought my mother fish from 2 different giants and she has gotten sick from it. I hate when crab meat goes on sale because it is just about always rotten. ANd I mean this stuff stinks! And again this is not isolated to our store but like every one I have gone to. This never happened years ago. And customer service standards simply don't exist. It is exactly oppisite Walmart's corperate philosohy. Just for the record I am not he only one who feels this way either. I hear customers at work say this every day.
